Fireballs/ Meteors All Over The World. Signs In The Sun, And In The Moon, And In The Stars……

“And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.” Luke 21:25-27

“Ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars. . . . Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.” Matthew 24:6-7.

“Alas for the day! for the day of the LORD is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come. Is not the meat cut off before our eyes, yea, joy and gladness from the house of our God? The seed is rotten under their clods, the garners are laid desolate, the barns are broken down; for the corn is withered. How do the beasts groan! the herds of cattle are perplexed, because they have no pasture; yea, the flocks of sheep are made desolate. O LORD, to thee will I cry: for the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame hath burned all the trees of the field. The beasts of the field cry also unto thee: for the rivers of waters are dried up, and the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness.” Joel 1:15-20

As alien as it appeared, this was a phenomenon of Earth. "An inversion air layer next to the sea surface caused the top of the setting sun to acquire unusual shapes. In a matter of tens of seconds, it went from a saucer to a cup, then to a rectangle," says Vital. Atmospheric optics expert Les Cowley explains further: "A mirage morphed the sun into a rectangular block brighter at its top edge. It is even more complex than it seems. Sun rays are deflected (refracted) through the different temperature layers of a temperature inversion, cold air trapped beneath warmer air, to form not one sun image but three or even more. The topmost bright strip is the sun grazing the top of the inversion layer. Beneath it are two or more sun images, half of them rising and the others descending. They overlap to form the rectangle. Other shots show the separate sun images." "Look for these mock-mirages and their green flashes when the horizon shows a dark band of a temperature inversion," he advises. "But take care and never ever use binoculars or a telescope. Magnified sunlight can cause serious eye damage." Source: http://spaceweather.com/

9-7-2014: MANAGUA, Nicaragua (AP) — Nicaragua's government said Sunday that a mysterious boom heard overnight in the capital was made by a small meteorite that left a crater in a wooded area near Managua's airport. Government spokeswoman Rosario Murillo said a committee formed by the government to study the event determined it was a "relatively small" meteorite that "appears to have come off an asteroid that was passing close to Earth." Murillo said Nicaragua will ask international experts to help local scientists in understanding what happened. The crater left by the meteorite had a radius of 12 meters (39 feet) and a depth of 5 meters (16 feet), said Humberto Saballos, a volcanologist with the Nicaraguan Institute of Territorial Studies who was on the committee. He said it is still not clear if the meteorite disintegrated or was buried. Humberto Garcia, of the Astronomy Center at the National Autonomous University of Nicaragua, said the meteorite could be related to an asteroid that was forecast to pass by the planet Saturday night.

NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) snapped the composite photo as the spacecraft stared at the sun from its spot in space on Oct. 8, 2014. There even appear to be ears on the sides of the sun. The image is a composite of two taken in extreme ultraviolet light. Active regions on the sun, which include magnetic activity in the sun's atmosphere (corona), shine brighter and created the jack-o-lantern-like face.

The Saturn moon Mimas (Reuters / NASA) - Mimas, one of Saturn’s moons (nicknamed ‘Death Star’) has a telltale wobble that leads scientists to believe the orb may have underground water ‒ or even a subterranean ocean ‒ according to a new study. Astronomers from the US, France and Belgium focused on the interior of Saturn's icy moon Mimas, the smallest of Saturn’s main moons. They based their calculations on high-resolution photos of Mimas snapped by the Cassini spacecraft. The researchers concluded that either the frozen core is shaped like a football, or the celestial body contains water in a liquid state.

10-19-2014: SIGNS IN THE SUN – Sun Unleashes Powerful X-Class Solar Flare

A monster solar flare erupted early Sunday (Oct. 19) from a huge sunspot that may just be getting warmed up. The sun fired off an X-class solar flare — the most powerful type — that peaked at 1:01 a.m. EDT (5:01 GMT) Sunday. NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) spacecraft captured photos and video of the intense sun storm, which researchers classified as an X1.1 flare. The flare erupted from a sunspot called AR (Active Region) 2192, which has since grown to become 78,000 miles (125,000 kilometers) wide, according to Spaceweather.com — almost as big as the planet Jupiter.

10-19-2014: Images of Comet C/2013 A1 Siding Spring

10-19-2014: Oort Cloud comet Siding Spring made its closest pass to Mars and the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) on Sunday, 19 October 2014. The highest-resolution images were acquired by HiRISE at the minimum distance of 138,000 kilometers. The image has a scale of 138 meters per pixel. Telescopic observers modeled the size of the nucleus as about 1 kilometer wide. However, the best HiRISE images show only 2-3 pixels across the brightest feature, suggesting a size smaller than 0.5 kilometers for this nucleus, the first ever imaged for a long-period comet. This composite image shows two of the best HiRISE images of the comet. Shown at top are images with the full dynamic range, showing the nucleus and bright coma near the nucleus. Shown at bottom are versions where the fainter outer coma is brightened, saturating the inner region. These closest-approach images were made possible due to very precise pointing and slewing of the MRO spacecraft by engineers at Lockheed-Martin in Denver, based on comet position calculations by engineers at JPL. HiRISE acquired three images 12 days before closest approach, when the comet was barely detectable above the “noise level” of the images. These early images showed the comet was not quite at its predicted location! This new viewing angle on the comet was used to update its predicted location and timing at closest approach. Without this update, the comet may have been outside the HiRISE image area in the best images. Written by: Alfred McEwen Credit: NASA/JPL/University of Arizona

10-19-2014:
Oort Cloud comet Siding Spring made its closest pass to Mars and the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) on Sunday, 19 October 2014. The highest-resolution images were acquired by HiRISE at the minimum distance of 138,000 kilometers. The image has a scale of 138 meters per pixel.

10-20-2014: Meteor showers predicted for early Tuesday morning

The predawn sky may be full of meteors as the Earth passes through a debris stream from Halley’s Comet. This happens every October, NASA says.

“We expect to see about 20 meteors per hour when the shower peaks on Tuesday morning, Oct 21st,” Bill Cooke, the head of NASA’s Meteoroid Environment Office, said in a NASA press release. “With no moon to spoil the show, observing conditions should be ideal.”

10-20-2014: Sunset Solar Eclipse

Sunsets are always pretty.  One sunset this month could be out of this world. On Thursday, Oct. 23rd, the setting sun across eastern parts of the USA will be red, beautiful and … crescent-shaped.

“It’s a partial solar eclipse,” explains longtime NASA eclipse expert Fred Espenak.  In other words, the New Moon is going to ‘take a bite’ out of the sun.

10-23-2014: Amazing Partial Solar Eclipse Photos by Skywatchers

Photographer Sean Parker created this mosaic of the partial solar eclipse by snapping photos of the event every 25 minutes on Oct. 23. He took the photosfrom Tucson, Arizona, using a Canon t3i camera with a 70-200 F/4 lens, Canon 2x Extender and a solar filter. "The spots you see are actually large sunspots," Parker wrote in an email. Credit: Sean Parker. 11-4-2014: ‘Fireball meteor’ seen over western Japan

11-4-2014: People in western Japan have reported sightings of a sparkling light racing across the sky on Monday evening. Experts say it was probably a "fireball" meteor - a piece of an asteroid that ignites upon entering Earth's atmosphere - and any surviving fragments mostly likely ended up in the sea. A remote controlled camera at Fukuoka airport recorded an object emitting a strong green light, while another camera at Hakata port showed a faint orange light.

11-6-2014: Second fireball this week streaks overhead

Monday night’s meteor sighting racked up more than 400 reports from across 14 states, according to the American Meteor Society. Thursday evening at around 6:30 p.m., a fireball was seen over parts of Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee. At least 20 reports came from Georgia, with the vast majority of those from metro Atlanta.

Some reports indicated that Thursday night’s meteor appeared larger and brighter than Monday’s sightings. Most of the reports indicated the fireball was a blueish or greenish color.

No sounds were reported from the meteor, and there was no indication of it hitting the ground.

11-12-2014: Scientists have successfully landed a probe on the surface of a comet in an historic first for space exploration, the European Space Agency (ESA) says. The lander, named Philae, left the Rosetta spacecraft and after a seven-hour descent, scientists at ESA confirmed its safe landing on the surface of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko, just after 3:00am AEDT. "Philae is talking to us," said Stephan Ulamec, the lander's manager. "We are on the comet." "We definitely confirm that the lander is on the surface," said Andrea Accomazzo, flight operations director. "We can't be happier than what we we are now." "This is a big step for human civilisation," said the agency's director general, Jean-Jacques Dordain, as a crowd of scientists, guests and VIPs cheered and applauded in relief.
